Strawberry Trifle (Quick and Simple)

Prep. 20 mins.             Rest. 1hr.              Total time. 1 hr. 20 min.

     Ingredients

  • 1 store-bought angel food cake loaf OR pound cake
  •  2 lbs. of strawberries
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 cups cold milk
  • 1 (5.1 oz.) package instant vanilla pudding
  • 1 8oz. tub of softened whipped topping (Cool whip)

    Directions

    Strawberry filling

This step uses the lemon juice, sugar, and most of the berries. Start by preparing the strawberries. Cut the tops, clean, and slice the berries. Mash 3/4 of the prepared berries with the lemon juice and sugar.    LEAVE SOME STRAWBERRY SLICES FOR GARNISH! Set the remaining slices and filling aside.

     Pudding + Cake

Mix the cold milk with the instant pudding mix with a hand mixer until well combined and beginning to solidify. For the cake, simply cut it into bite-sized cubes.

    Putting it Together

Layer in the cake cubes, strawberry mash, and pudding (in that order). Try for 2-3 layers for better presentation. Top with Cool Whip and the sliced strawberries from earlier. Place in the refrigerator to rest for about an hour before serving! Enjoy!

My favorite time for this recipe:

This recipe is best during the summer for something light and fruity. The in-season strawberries really make the dish pop. It's also a good winter get-together dessert when you change the fruit to something in season for winter. Overall, it is a highly versatile dish that pairs well with every meal or event!
